Women’s NGOs in Decision-Making Processes

The aim of the project is to contribute to women NGO representatives and activists becoming more actively involved in decision-making processes by enabling them to familiarize themselves with local, national, and international participation and accreditation procedures, and by increasing their knowledge of international conventions and institutional frameworks related to women and family issues. The project also seeks to support public–civil society cooperation at the national level.

Project Objective

There are various opportunities at the local, national, and international levels for civil society organizations working on women and family issues to participate in decision-making processes. At the local level, these range from participation in women’s councils to engagement in specialized committees of municipalities; at the national level, from involvement in consultative councils and contributions to development planning processes to influencing parliamentary committees; and at the international level, from drafting shadow reports to obtaining accreditation.

In order to benefit from these opportunities, it is essential that NGO representatives possess knowledge of relevant legislation, institutional working procedures, international conventions, and participation processes.
